Brother’s Free 5-Year Printer Warranty Is Changing

 
Tshwane, 1 September 2025. Brother International South Africa (Pty) Ltd, a leader in home and business IT peripherals worldwide, together with distribution partner Mustek Limited, today announced important changes to its printer warranty policy.

 

From 1 September 2025, the current 5-year printer warranty will be replaced with a 3-year free warranty that is automatically applied on purchase. Customers who still want extended peace of mind will be able to purchase a 2-year extended warranty through Mustek Limited, Brother’s authorised distribution and support partner. The extended warranty costs R540 (VAT Incl) and must be purchased within 30 days of the original purchase.

This extended warranty applies to Printers and Multi-function Centres only and does not apply to Sublimation Printers, Label Printers, or Sewing, Embroidery and Craft machines.

What’s Changing?

  • Current 5-Year Warranty (until 31 August 2025):
    All Brother printers sold in South Africa automatically receive a free 5-year warranty – no registration required. Coverage is linked directly to the printer’s serial number.
  • New 3-Year Warranty (from 1 September 2025):
    • All new printers will include a free 3-year warranty – no registration required.
    • Customers can extend their warranty by an additional 2 years (back to 5 years) by purchasing an extended warranty from Mustek Limited.
    • The Extended Warranty must be purchased within 30 days of the Brother printer or MFC purchase date.

This shift aligns Brother South Africa with global warranty standards and provides more flexibility for customers. Key reasons include:

What You Need to Do

Buying Before 31 August 2025?
• No action required – you’ll still receive the full 5-year warranty automatically applied to your printer serial number.

Buying On or After 1 September 2025?
• All printers include a free 3-year warranty, automatically applied on purchase.
• If you’d like to extend your cover to 5 years, you can purchase a 2-year extended warranty from Mustek Limited.
• Remember, the Extended Warranty must be purchased within 30 days of purchase.

Final Reminder
