Organise your document scanning in a few easy steps


The Brother iPrint&Scan Software acts as a central hub for your document scanning, printing and device maintenance.

Below we show you how to download and set it up on your PC or Mac and how to use the features.

Getting started with iPrint&Scan Desktop Software

How to install the Software

Download the Mac App from the App Store or visit support.brother.com to download the Windows PC version of the software. Search using your model number and navigate to Downloads. The iPrint&Scan download (327mb) is in the Utilities list.

How to set your Scan Settings

Select the Machine Scan Settings button on the dashboard and choose your preferred settings for each of the scan types available. Set resolution, destination folders and file types for your scans.

How to scan from the software

Scanning from the iPrint&Scan Dashboard is easy. Select the Scan option and choose your scan type from the list. Place your document in the machine. When you are happy with the settings, click on the Scan button.

Create ‘one-touch’ scanning workflows for your common scanning tasks

Now that you have your iPrint&Scan Software installed and have set your scan settings, you can make scanning even easier by creating ‘One-touch’ workflows, or shortcuts, for your regular scanning tasks.


When you create a workflow you can specify the type of file you want to save as well as the destination for your scan. Give each workflow a unique name and save them in your dashboard. You even have the option to save searchable pdfs using the OCR option on the dashboard.

Check that your printer model is compatible with iPrint&Scan Desktop

The iPrint&Scan Software is a new addition to the Brother Free Apps line up. This means that it may not be compatible on your older model Brother printer or all-in-one. Scroll through the models below to see if your model is compatible.
