Brother International closing the door on counterfeit supplies
15 August 2023, South Africa – Brother International, a leader in home and business IT peripherals is updating the protective hologram on genuine ink and toner cartridges this year as part of an ongoing commitment to protect customers from potentially damaging counterfeit products. The updated holograms will appear on all Brother Genuine ink cartridges, ink bottles, toner cartridges and drum units in South Africa from July 2023.
The updated hologram – which will link directly to an official authentication website – will ensure that customers can easily identify genuine Brother products from counterfeits. The new design will also help to minimise the risk of fraudsters reusing genuine holograms on counterfeit products.
Dale de Villiers, Marketing and Sales Manager at Brother International South Africa said; “protecting our customers is of the utmost importance to all of us at Brother, and we hope this updated hologram will reassure customers and ensure that they are able to confidently identify if products are genuine or not. When we design our supplies not only do we ensure that they are designed to deliver optimum results with our hardware, but we also make them safe, something that is not guaranteed when purchasing counterfeit goods.
De Villiers added; “Using counterfeit cartridges may damage your Brother printer, and compromise its efficiency, reliability, and longevity, so it is essential that we do everything we can to help customers identify when a cartridge is a Brother Genuine. As well as an update to the authentication link, the new holograms will feature an updated design so we urge our customers to look out for this, and to check that the product is genuine if in any doubt”.
