Tshwane, 16 October 2019 – The Colourful Threads Mandela Day Sewathon, in aid of the Zanethemba Charity, took place from 16 - 20 July 2019 at the Greenacres Shopping Centre in Port Elizabeth. But the initiative was so popular that the sewing has continued right through until October!

The ‘Colourful Threads’ Mandela Day Sewathon invited members of the public to join in and sew for 67 minutes (or more!) for charity. The team from Colourful Threads prepared the sewing kits of patterns and cut out material to be used during the weekend sewing event. Participants could choose from teddies, dolls, reading pillows, laundry bags, quilts and blankets to sew up. The finished articles were then donated to the Zanethemba Children’s Home.

Sewing kits were also sold to add to the fundraising effort as well as a Quilt raffle which raised a further R1800 from ticket sales.
